IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers

Our IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers course is a comprehensive one-day training designed to equip workers with essential knowledge and skills to maintain safety and health standards on site. This course is compliant with UK regulations and is ideal for construction workers at all levels.

The course is mapped to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) as equivalent to the RQF level 1/SCQF level 4 award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment – aligning it with the Build UK Training Standard.

The version of this course that is delivered in person is accepted as a route to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Labourer card. CSCS do not accept the e-learning version of the course for their Labourer card.

Course Outline

Unit 1 – Setting the scene

• Outlining the content of the course.
• Explaining the workbook function.
• Reinforcing a positive message that health & safety is good for clients, management and workers.

Unit 2 – Local law and enforcement

• Explaining that wherever you are in the world generally there are legal requirements, local laws or standards relating to safety and health that must be met by employers and workers.

Unit 3 – General Site Safety

• Explaining risk assessments.
• How to write risk assessments and how to understand the hierarchy of risk.
• Looking at construction site management and a variety of potential hazards.

Unit 4 – High Risk activities

• Looking at a number of high-risk activities on construction sites and how they can be controlled.

Unit 5 – Health

• Highlighting physical and mental health in the workplace and how they can be managed.
